Visible Light Induced Aerobic Coupling of Arylboronic Acids Promoted by Hydrazone

Hongyu Xia et al.

Summary: A visible-light-induced oxidative coupling reaction of arylboronic acids for the synthesis of biaryls has been developed. The reaction utilizes polydentate hydrazones as a bifunctional catalyst and proceeds smoothly at room temperature. It is compatible with a wide range of functional groups. The study of UV-Vis spectrum shows that hydrazone and its complex with CuI exhibit major absorptions upon visible-light, indicating the dual role of hydrazone as both ligand and photocatalyst in this reaction.

Optically Controlled Thermochromic Switching for Multi-Input Molecular Logic

Liang Fei et al.

Summary: Leuco dye-based thermochromic materials have great potential for visible molecular logic due to their reversible color-changing effect. However, controlling the bistable color function at the desired temperature is still a challenge. By designing a series of azobenzenes with different alkyl chains, protonation competition with the leuco dye can be achieved, allowing for the locking and releasing of the color developer. This optically controlled leuco dye-based system demonstrates visible sequential logic operations and provides a new type of protonation-based optical control.

CYP2C9 and 3A4 play opposing roles in bioactivation and detoxification of diphenylamine NSAIDs

Mary Alexandra Schleiff et al.

Summary: Different cytochromes P450 enzymes play distinct roles in the bioactivation of diphenylamine NSAIDs, with CYP2C9 dominating all possible bioactivation pathways. CYP2C9 and 3A4 are more efficient than other enzymes in overall oxidative metabolism, with CYP2C9 almost exclusively accounting for diphenylamine NSAID bioactivations.
