Role of delay-times in delay-based photonic reservoir computing

Tobias Huelser et al.

Summary: Delay-based reservoir computing has attracted attention in hardware implementation due to its relative simplicity. This review paper introduces the concept of delay-based reservoir computing without requiring a predetermined relationship between delay time and input clock cycle. By independently choosing delay times, an important degree of freedom is gained. The study discusses ways to enhance computing performance in reservoirs formed by delay-coupled oscillators and demonstrates the impact of delay time tuning.

Nanolasers with Feedback as Low-Coherence Illumination Sources for Speckle-Free Imaging: A Numerical Analysis of the Superthermal Emission Regime

Tao Wang et al.

Summary: The article presents a new approach to reduce speckle noise in imaging by exploiting a new emission regime of nanolasers. By exploring the dynamic properties of low-coherence laser pulses emitted below the laser threshold, it is possible to tailor the properties of the emitted radiation and potentially make semiconductor nanolasers attractive future sources of low-coherence radiation for imaging.

Speckle noise reduction strategies in laser-based projection imaging, fluorescence microscopy, and digital holography with uniform illumination, improved image sharpness, and resolution

Virendra Kumar et al.

Summary: Laser plays a crucial role in fields like optical projection imaging, fluorescence microscopy, and holography, but its high coherence can lead to speckle noise and affect image quality. The most suitable light source for these techniques is partially spatially coherent monochromatic light, which enables uniform illumination and minimal speckle noise.
