Thickness dependent morphological, structural and optical properties of SS/CuO nanocoatings as selective solar absorber

G. G. Welegergs et al.

Summary: In this paper, selective solar absorber (SSA) of copper oxide (CuO) nanocoatings on stainless steel (SS) substrate were conveniently prepared by sputtering and chemical oxidation route for solar thermal energy harvesting. The surface morphology, microstructure, and optical properties of the CuO nanocoatings were characterized using various techniques, revealing significant influences from the coating thickness on the morphological, structural, and optical properties. The highest solar absorptance and emissivity were associated with the thickest coating of 600 nm, showcasing potential for efficient solar thermal energy harvesting.

A facile method to synthesize Ag/CuO composite nanowire arrays for electrochemical detection

Jian Cao et al.

Summary: A novel method using a combination of anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) templates, AgCuO alloy capillary wetting and hydrothermal reaction has been developed for preparing Ag/CuO composite nanowire arrays. The composite nanowire arrays obtained via the hydrothermal reaction show good electrochemical performance for hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detection. The Ag nanowire arrays are released and CuO nanowire arrays are grown through the hydrothermal reaction.
