Plasmonic Coupler and Multiplexer/Demultiplexer Based on Nano-Groove-Arrays

Aparna Udupi et al.

Summary: A novel plasmonic unidirectional coupler and its extension to a multiplexer/demultiplexer were proposed and simulated, showing good agreement with design and achieving high extinction ratio. The structures also demonstrated acceptable crosstalk and FWHM for the multiplexer/demultiplexer, with the additional feature of being amenable to integration with other functionalities.

Design and modelling of all-optical NAND gate using metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguides-based Mach-Zehnder interferometers for high-speed information processing

Sandip Swarnakar et al.

Summary: All-optical integrated circuits are utilized to alleviate the drawbacks of conventional electronics and achieve high-speed computing and information processing. By optimizing the design of a MIM waveguide-based Mach-Zehnder interferometer, a high-performance all-optical NAND gate is demonstrated with an extinction ratio of 10.55 dB, insertion loss of 0.506 dB, and response time of 262 ps.

The design, analysis, and simulation of an optimized all-optical AND gate using a Y-shaped plasmonic waveguide for high-speed computing devices

Surya Pavan Kumar Anguluri et al.

Summary: The novel design of an all-optical AND gate using a power combiner based on a Y-shaped metal-insulator-metal waveguide with a 4 μm × 7 μm footprint operates on the principle of linear interference. The design has an insertion loss of 0.165 and an extinction ratio of 14.11 dB, with analysis conducted using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method and verification using MATLAB. This minimized structure can be used to design complex logic circuits for better performance in the future.
