Propagation of vortex Hermite-cosh-Gaussian beams in a gradient-index medium

M. Lazrek et al.

Summary: The analytical expression for a vortex Hermite-cosh-Gaussian beam propagating in a gradient-index medium is derived, and the evolution of the beam's intensity and phase distributions are numerically analyzed. The results show that the beam's self-repetition period slows down as the gradient-index parameter increases, and the incident beam parameters can alter the self-repetition of the field in the medium. These findings have potential applications in fiber communications and beam shaping.

Propagation of the kurtosis parameter of Hollow higher-order Cosh Gaussian beams through paraxial optical ABCD system

Ahmed Abdulrab Ali Ebrahim et al.

Summary: In this study, the closed-form of the propagation of the kurtosis parameter of non-truncated Hollow higher-order Cosh-Gaussian beam passing through an ABCD optical system was derived based on the second-order and fourth-order irradiance moments. Numerical examples were provided to illustrate the analytical results. The kurtosis parameter of specific cases such as fundamental Gaussian, Cosh-Gaussian, and higher Cosh-Gaussian beams can also be deduced from the main formula of this study. The obtained results are consistent with previous works and offer a more comprehensive investigation of the kurtosis parameter of laser beams.

Introduction of the vortex Hermite-Cosh-Gaussian beam and the analysis of its intensity pattern upon propagation

Z. Hricha et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new form of beam vHChGB and derives its propagation formula through a paraxial optical system. The evolution of the intensity pattern of vHChGB with beam order, decentered parameter, and topological vortex charge is studied, showing the shape depends on the decentered parameter.

Summary: This study investigates the propagation properties of hollow higher-order cosh-Gaussian beams in different optical systems, including a quadratic index medium and a Fractional Fourier transform system. The properties of HhCG beams in these systems are graphically illustrated with numerical examples, and the influence parameters on the evolution of HhCG in the systems are discussed in detail.

Effects of turbulent atmosphere on the propagation properties of vortex Hermite-cosine-hyperbolic-Gaussian beams

Z. Hricha et al.

Summary: The study investigates the propagation properties of a vortex Hermite-cosh-Gaussian beam in atmospheric turbulence. The results show that the profile of the beam remains unchanged within small propagation distance range, and the central peak intensity rises faster with larger turbulence strength or smaller beam parameters. The findings may be useful for practical applications of the beam in optical communications and remote sensing.

Paraxial propagation and focusing of higher-order cosh-Gaussian beams

Z. Hricha et al.

Summary: Based on the Huygens-Fresnel diffraction integral, a concise formula for the higher-order cosh-Gaussian beams (HOChGB) propagating through a paraxial ABCD optical system is derived. The study analyzed the profile and inter-lobe space of the beam at the initial plane as a function of the decentered parameter and the beam order. It was found that the focal shift of the focused HOChGB increases with the decrease of the Fresnel number, the decentered parameter, and the beam order.

Z. Hricha et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the propagation properties of a vortex cosh-Gaussian beam (vChGB) in turbulent atmosphere and derives the analytical expression for the average intensity of the vChGB. The effects of turbulent strength and beam parameters on intensity distribution and beam spreading are illustrated numerically and analyzed in detail. The results obtained can be beneficial for applications in optical communications and remote sensing.

Focusing properties and focal shift of a vortex cosine-hyperbolic Gaussian beam

Z. Hricha et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the focusing properties of a vChG beam passing through a converging thin lens, finding that the focal shift is determined by the incident beam parameters. Numerical examples show that the focused vChGB transforms into a multi-lobes structure shape at the real focus plane.
