Letrozole versus clomiphene citrate for ovulation induction in anovulatory women with polycystic ovarian syndrome: A randomized controlled trial

Shavina Bansal et al.

Summary: In women with polycystic ovarian syndrome, letrozole may be a better option for ovulation induction compared to clomiphene citrate, as it results in higher pregnancy rates, shorter time to pregnancy, and lower chances of multiple pregnancies due to higher monofollicular development.

Risk of foetal harm with letrozole use in Fertility treatment: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Jyotsna Pundir et al.

Summary: There is no evidence that letrozole increases the risk of congenital foetal malformation or pregnancy loss compared with clomiphene, natural conception or other fertility agents, to warrant warning against its use. Given its therapeutic benefits and lack of evidence of harm to the foetus, clinicians should consider letrozole as first-line agent for ovulation induction.

Letrozole Versus Clomiphene Citrate and Natural Cycle: Endometrial Receptivity During Implantation Window in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Li Wang et al.

Summary: This study compared endometrial receptivity during implantation windows among letrozole, clomiphene citrate, and natural cycle in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients. The results showed that letrozole had superior endometrial receptivity compared to clomiphene citrate, leading to higher clinical pregnancy and ongoing pregnancy rates. Endometrial flow index during the implantation window was found to have the highest predictive value for pregnancy.

Summary: In anovulatory women with PCOS, letrozole has been shown to have a higher probability of inducing ovulation compared to clomiphene citrate. This higher ovulation rate may lead to increased clinical pregnancy and live birth rates as well.
