Development and evaluation of a new colorimetric DGT technique for the 2D visualisation of labile phosphate in soils

David Macias Arias et al.

Summary: A new colorimetric technique using DGT was developed to measure labile phosphate in soils, providing a convenient and fast alternative to existing methods. The technique showed similar patterns of phosphate diffusion in soil compared to elution DGT and Colwell P measurements, and may be more suitable for in-field applications.

Potential for suppression of Rhizoctonia root rot is influenced by nutrient (N and P) and carbon inputs in a highly calcareous coarse-textured topsoil

Rowena S. Davey et al.

Summary: Bioassays conducted in a controlled environment showed that adding phosphorus (P) to phosphorus-deficient soil increased DNA and root infection of Rhizoctonia solani AG8, but not its effectiveness. Addition of labile C along with phosphorus increased DNA for Microbacterium spp. Stubble addition increased DNA for some bacteria and decreased Rhizoctonia infection when combined with P fertilizer.
