Substitution dependent multi-color AIE behavior and ESIPT active A-D-A type triphenylamine supported bis unsymmetrical azine derivatives and their antibacterial activity

Moorthy Mathivanan et al.

Summary: A new family of AIE active and ESIPT featured compounds were synthesized using a facile approach. These compounds displayed weak fluorescence in solution state and strong multi-color luminescence in aggregated/solid state. The experimental results confirmed the existence of AIE behavior in the compounds, possibly due to the restriction of intramolecular rotation. Additionally, the compounds showed excellent antibacterial activity against selected bacterial strains.

Influence of intermolecular hydrogen bond interaction on fluorescence mechanism for ESIPT characteristic o-Hydroxybenzaldehyde

Ye Wang et al.

Summary: The excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) processes and fluorescence mechanisms of OHBA and OHBA-MeOH in cyclohexane and methanol solvents were studied using density functional theory and time-dependent density functional theory. The results showed that there is no enol form in the first excited state of OHBA, but OHBA-MeOH has an enol form. The intermolecular hydrogen bond interaction can cause an energy barrier in the ESIPT process of OHBA-MeOH.

Deeper insight into the multifaceted photodynamics of a potential organic functional material emphasizing aggregation induced emission enhancement (AIEE) properties

Tapashree Mondal et al.

Summary: The photodynamics of the organic molecule PHQ in aggregation state are primarily affected by factors such as photo-induced electron transfer rates and active intramolecular motions. The transition from weakly emissive to highly emissive states is substantiated through various techniques including time-resolved photoluminescence. Investigating the aggregated hydrosol using time-resolved anisotropy measurements reveals insights into the microenvironment viscosities of PHQ.

Elegant cooperation of AIE, ESIPT and ICT effects into tetraarylimidazole-based fluorophore and its tuning for ratiometric detection of carbon monoxide

Min Liu et al.

Summary: A new type of fluorophore was reported in this study for the development of ratiometric fluorescent probes with optimized properties for detecting and imaging carbon monoxide. These probes demonstrated superior selectivity and excellent sensitivity, successfully carrying out visual detection of CO in air and ratiometric detection of exogenous and endogenous CO in living cells.

ESIPT-AIE active Schiff base based on 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)benzo-thiazole applied as multi-functional fluorescent chemosensors

Han-Wen Zheng et al.

Summary: Three AIE-ESIPT active derivatives were synthesized and characterized for their AIE properties and ability to detect Cu2+ and Zn2+ in different media. X-ray single-crystal diffraction results revealed the coordination mode between metal ions and ligands. These chemosensors were successfully constructed into handy fluorescence test papers for metal ion detection.
