Cognitive assessment in patients with myotonic dystrophy type 2

Stojan Peric et al.

Summary: The study aimed to assess cognitive functions in a larger cohort of Serbian DM2 patients and found that approximately one quarter of the patients had significant cognitive impairment that interfered with their everyday functioning. Patients with significant cognitive impairment were typically older, less educated, and had more severe muscle weakness.

Lumbosacral Radiculoplexus Neuropathy Neurologic Outcomes and Survival in a Population-Based Study

Marcus Pinto et al.

Summary: Patients with LRPN in the community have milder neuropathy compared to referral patients, with less impairment, less bilateral disease, and less wheelchair usage. The survival rate of LRPN is 86% at 5 years and 55% at 10 years, with LRPN patients having a 76% increased risk of death compared to age- and sex-matched controls. However, the increase in mortality is likely due to comorbidities such as diabetes rather than LRPN itself.
