Speciation Analysis of Chromium in Chromium-Enriched Yeast by Ion Chromatography-Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry

Shuang-Qing Zhang et al.

Summary: A new method was developed for quantifying Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in Chromium-enriched yeast, using ion chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were extracted using ultrasound-assisted weakly alkaline EDTA solution combined with boiling, and separated on two successive anion-exchange columns. The method was sensitive, accurate, and precise, with no Cr(VI) species found in CrY.
