[11C]metomidate PET-CT versus adrenal vein sampling for diagnosing surgically curable primary aldosteronism: a prospective, within-patient trial

Xilin Wu et al.

Summary: Primary aldosteronism (PA) caused by a unilateral aldosterone-producing adenoma is a common cause of hypertension. Adrenal surgery can provide a cure or significant improvement, but the invasive nature of the pre-surgical investigation limits the number of patients who can receive this treatment. This study compared the accuracy of a non-invasive test, [C-11]metomidate positron emission tomography computed tomography (MTO) scanning, with adrenal vein sampling (AVS) in predicting the success of surgery in patients with PA.

First-in-human evaluation of [18F]CETO: a novel tracer for adrenocortical tumours

Isabella Silins et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the use of para-chloro-2-[F-18]fluoroethyletomidate positron emission computed tomography in patients with adrenal tumors and healthy volunteers. The results showed that the tracer had a high uptake in the adrenal glands and low uptake in the liver, making it suitable for adrenal imaging.

11C-Metomidate PET-CT versus adrenal vein sampling to subtype primary aldosteronism: a prospective clinical trial

Troy H. Puar et al.

Summary: This study compared the use of C-11-Metomidate PET-CT and AVS for subtyping primary aldosteronism. The results showed that C-11-Metomidate PET-CT performed comparably to AVS in diagnosing unilateral primary aldosteronism. Additionally, PET identified patients with unilateral primary aldosteronism that were missed by AVS, suggesting that combining both tests can improve the diagnostic rate for unilateral primary aldosteronism.
