Asymmetric magnetic proximity interactions in MoSe2/CrBr3 van der Waals heterostructures

Junho Choi et al.

Summary: Research shows that magnetic proximity interactions in van der Waals heterostructures can exhibit significant asymmetry. These interactions can be utilized to manipulate spin and valley degrees of freedom in monolayer semiconductors without the need for applied magnetic fields. This study suggests new approaches for controlling specific spin and valley states in monolayer semiconductors.

Quantum Spin-Valley Hall Kink States: From Concept to Materials Design

Tong Zhou et al.

Summary: A general and tunable platform has been proposed to achieve high-density arrays of quantum spin-valley Hall kink (QSVHK) states based on a two-dimensional hexagonal topological insulator. The QSVHK states are found to be topologically protected by valley-inversion and time-reversal symmetries, with quantized conductance against disorder. These states can be realized in bismuthene through alloy engineering, surface functionalization, or electric field, supporting nonvolatile applications at room temperature.
