Signatures of Andreev Blockade in a Double Quantum Dot Coupled to a Superconductor

Po Zhang et al.

Summary: We investigated an electron transport blockade regime where a spin triplet is forbidden from entering a spin-singlet superconductor. To stabilize the triplet, we created a double quantum dot near a superconducting lead. The experimental observations matched a theoretical model of Andreev blockade, and leakage currents could be accounted for by finite temperature. This blockade phenomenon is important for studying spin structure of superconductors and may have applications in quantum computing devices.

Parallel InAs nanowires for Cooper pair splitters with Coulomb repulsion

Oliver Kurtossy et al.

Summary: Recently, hybrid nanostructures consisting of two parallel InAs nanowires connected by an epitaxially grown superconductor have been developed. These structures allow for spatial separation of entangled electron pairs using quantum dots, resulting in enhanced Cooper pair splitting efficiency. In this study, the effect of strong inter-dot Coulomb repulsion on Cooper pair splitting was investigated. Despite the competition between crossed Andreev reflection and inter-wire capacitance, a significant Cooper pair splitting signal was observed, indicating the dominance of superconducting coupling.

Non-Majorana states yield nearly quantized conductance in proximatized nanowires

P. Yu et al.

Summary: This study reports the observation of nearly quantized peaks close to the expected value by tunnel probes on both ends of a nanowire. However, the nearly quantized zero-bias peaks were only found localized to one end of the nanowire, raising doubts on whether they are Majoranas.

Symmetry-controlled singlet-triplet transition in a double-barrier quantum ring

Heidi Potts et al.

Summary: Researchers engineered a system of two strongly confined quantum dots to control the even-electron spin reproducibly with an electric field at zero magnetic field. By comparing experimental data with theoretical calculations, they found that the ring-shaped geometry of the confining potential enables the energy crossover between the singlet and triplet states. This unique characteristic is not observed in conventionally coupled quantum dots.
