Network-Like Platinum Nanosheets Enabled by a Calorific-Effect-Induced-Fusion Strategy for Enhanced Catalytic Hydrogenation Performance

Ting-Wen Chen et al.

Summary: In this paper, network-like platinum nanosheets were constructed by utilizing a calorific-effect-induced-fusion strategy on Pt/reduced graphite oxide hybrids. The tiny Pt species catalyzed the H-2-O-2 combination reaction and the released heat triggered the combustion of rGO substrate, resulting in the fusion of Pt species into network-like nanosheet structure. The loading amount and dispersity of Pt on rGO were crucial for the successful construction of network-like Pt nanosheets. The as-prepared products exhibited excellent catalytic hydrogenation activity and superior stability towards unsaturated bonds.

Crystal Facet-Manipulated 2D Pt Nanodendrites to Achieve an Intimate Heterointerface for Hydrogen Evolution Reactions

Yu-Rim Hong et al.

Summary: This study addresses the inefficient interfacial contact effect in Pt-catalyzed alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by producing atomically flat two-dimensional Pt nanodendrites (2D-PtNDs) and realizing a maximized and firmly bound lateral heterointerface with NiFe-layered double hydroxide (LDH). This work demonstrates the importance of shape and facet of Pt in creating heterointerfaces that provide catalytic synergy for efficient hydrogen production.

Twin Pathways: Discerning the Origins of Multiply Twinned Colloidal Nanoparticles

Jingshan S. Du et al.

Summary: The structure of MTPs is determined by specific crystallographic features, and their formation pathways include growth from multiply twinned seeds or stepwise formation of new twin boundaries on single-crystalline seeds. Recent studies have utilized in situ transmission electron microscopy to provide real-time evidence for both pathways, which will aid in the design of robust MTP syntheses. Further research on the structural evolution and energetics of nanoparticles is needed for a complete understanding of MTP formation pathways.
