A new strategy to achieve enhanced upconverted circularly polarized luminescence in chiral perovskite nanocrystals

Xue Jin et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for achieving circularly polarized luminescence activity using a hybrid nanomaterial of upconversion nanoparticles and perovskite nanocrystals. By embedding UCNPs into PKNCs, various CPL activities including prompt CPL, UC-CPL, and energy transfer enhanced CPL were realized. Chiral perovskite nanocrystals showed energy transfer enhanced CPL activity with four times magnification of the circular polarization.

Core-Shell Three-Dimensional Perovskite Nanocrystals with Chiral-Induced Spin Selectivity for Room-Temperature Spin Light-Emitting Diodes

Chuying Ye et al.

Summary: We developed type-II core-shell nanocrystals with a chiral low-dimensional perovskite shell and an achiral 3D MAPbBr(3) core. The core-shell nanocrystals exhibit spin-polarized luminescence and circularly polarized luminescence, which is controlled by the chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect. The spin-polarized light-emitting diode (spin-LED) also achieved circularly polarized electroluminescence under ambient conditions.

Chiral-induced spin selectivity enables a room-temperature spin light-emitting diode

Young-Hoon Kim et al.

Summary: Traditional optoelectronic approaches rely on both electrical and magnetic fields to control spin, charge, and light, while the use of chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) technology allows for the fabrication of a spin-LED that operates at room temperature without the need for magnetic fields or ferromagnetic contacts.

Chiral Perovskites for Next-Generation Photonics: From Chirality Transfer to Chiroptical Activity

Sunihl Ma et al.

Summary: Organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskites (OIHPs) are widely used in various applications due to their exceptional optoelectrical properties and structural flexibility. Despite intriguing chiral properties, the transfer mechanism from chiral molecules to achiral semiconductors and the origin of chiroptical activity are still not extensively studied. This comprehensive review discusses recent advances in chiroptical activities of chiral OIHPs and provides insight into the underlying chirality transfer mechanism.

Tuning the Circular Dichroism and Circular Polarized Luminescence Intensities of Chiral 2D Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Perovskites through Halogenation of the Organic Ions

Jin-Tai Lin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of various halogen-substituted chiral organic cations on the chiroptical properties of hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs). It was found that the HOIP with a chlorine-substituted chiral cation exhibits the highest circular dichroism (CD) and circular polarized luminescence (CPL) intensities, which can be correlated to the modulation of magnetic transition dipole and halogen-halogen interaction between organic cations and inorganic sheets.

Optically Active CdSe/CdS Nanoplatelets Exhibiting Both Circular Dichroism and Circularly Polarized Luminescence

Junjie Hao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the induced chirality and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) as a function of the CdS shell growth in CdSe/CdS nanoplatelets (NPLs) capped with chiral ligands. The formation of island-like and full coating CdS shell has a direct relationship with the chiroptical response, showing a clear signal evolution. It is found that the island-like shell gives birth to the CPL signal, while the full coating shell decreases the induced chirality.

Circularly polarized luminescence in chiral nematic liquid crystals: generation and amplification

Xuefeng Yang et al.

Summary: Circularly polarized luminescent materials have great potential in research fields, but the most important parameter, luminescence dissymmetry factor (g(lum)), has not been satisfactory, especially for organic small molecules. Therefore, finding ways to obtain high g(lum) values has become an urgent challenge in the CPL research field, leading to various strategies being proposed.
