Genetic effects of heat stress on milk fatty acids in Brazilian Holstein cattle

B. D. Dauria et al.

Summary: This study aimed to estimate covariance components of milk fatty acids and compare genomic estimated breeding values under general and heat-stress effects. The research found that heritability estimates for unsaturated fatty acid traits increased in higher heat-stress levels, while saturated fatty acid traits did not show significant differences between environments. Negative genetic correlations were observed between general and heat-stress additive genetic effects.

Elucidation of the Lipid Composition of Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) Products by Means of Gas Chromatography and Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography Coupled to Mass Spectrometry Detection

Paola Arena et al.

Summary: This research investigated the fatty acid and triacylglycerol composition of hempseed oils and flours using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. A total of 30 fatty acids and 62 glycerolipids were identified in the samples. The results confirmed that hemp is a valuable source of lipids and can be used as a useful dietary supplement.

A UHPLC-Mass Spectrometry View of Human Melanocytic Cells Uncovers Potential Lipid Biomarkers of Melanoma

Arantza Perez-Valle et al.

Summary: By studying the lipidomes of normal human epidermal and nevus melanocytes, as well as primary and metastatic melanoma cell lines, significant and highly specific changes in over 30 lipid species were identified in the initiation of melanoma. Notably, malignancy lipid signatures showed marked drops in pivotal membrane lipids like sphingomyelins, suggesting a previously undefined remodeling of sphingolipid and glycerophospholipid metabolism. These different lipid profiles may aid in clinical diagnosis/prognosis and therapeutic interventions for cutaneous melanoma.

Global and countrywide prevalence of subclinical and clinical mastitis in dairy cattle and buffaloes by systematic review and meta-analysis

Paramanandham Krishnamoorthy et al.

Summary: This study calculated the prevalence of subclinical mastitis (SCM) and clinical mastitis (CM) in various countries, finding a higher prevalence of SCM compared to CM worldwide, with both having high rates in India. The research suggests the importance of addressing SCM and CM through improved dairy management practices to benefit dairy farmers globally.

Influence of Heat Stress and Physiological Indicators Related to It on Health Lipid Indices in Milk of Holstein-Friesian Cows

Toncho Penev et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the impact of heat stress on lipid indices in milk of Holstein-Friesian cows. Results showed that under heat stress conditions, there were changes in health lipid indices, with values decreasing for certain indices and increasing for others. High temperature-humidity index was found to affect certain lipid values, and there was a moderate positive correlation between health lipid indices and environmental factors such as THI, rectal temperature, and respiratory rate.
