Pressure-driven membrane processes for boron and arsenic removal: pH and synergistic effects

Aina Orell Regis et al.

Summary: This study analyzed novel synergistic effects on rejection of arsenic and boron during membrane-based treatment. The research found that both reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes could meet WHO standards above pH 9 in contaminated waters, and increasing the pH from 7 to 9.5 doubled the allowable concentration of As(V) in the feed.

Optimization of effective parameters in arsenite oxidation process with Cl2, H2O2, and O3 using response surface methodology

Saba Amiri et al.

Summary: This study explores the effective parameters in the oxidation process of As(III) using H2O2, O3, and Cl2 oxidants. The results show that Cl2 oxidant achieves the highest percentage of As(III) oxidation compared to O3 and H2O2 oxidants. Time, oxidant type, and oxidant dosing are the most important factors affecting the oxidation efficiency, while pH has a slight effect. The optimal oxidation conditions are an oxidant dosing ratio of 1.89, pH of 7.75, and a time of 4.06 minutes using Cl2 oxidant. The validation experiments confirm the high oxidation efficiency of the optimal conditions for As(III) concentration of 5 mg/L in well water samples.

The Fenton-like reaction for Arsenic removal from groundwater: Health risk assessment

Mohammed Berkani et al.

Summary: The study investigated the heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction for arsenic-contaminated groundwater remediation, with calcium peroxide and sodium percarbonate showing synergistic effects on arsenic degradation rate. On the other hand, sodium persulfate exhibited an antagonistic effect. Inorganic ions had minimal impact on arsenic removal efficiency, while certain anions significantly inhibited arsenic degradation.

Muhammad Ali Inam et al.

Summary: The study utilized Box-Behnken statistical experiment design and response surface methodology to determine the optimal operating conditions for efficient removal of antimony (Sb) species from water using ferric chloride. The results showed that high doses of ferric chloride were effective in achieving maximum removal of both Sb (III) and Sb (V) under optimum pH conditions.
