Tumor mutation burden is correlated with response and prognosis in microsatellite-stable (MSS) gastric cancer patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy

Ziyu Li et al.

Summary: The combination of high tumor mutation burden (TMB-H) and 19q12 amplification (19q12 +) is associated with a favorable response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) in microsatellite stable (MSS) gastric cancer patients. TMB-H is negatively correlated with lymph node metastasis and macrophage infiltration, and is a robust biomarker for better disease-free survival (DFS), which can be evaluated at the time of diagnosis. The findings were validated in two larger GC datasets, TCGA-STAD and ICGC-CN.

Exosome-derived noncoding RNAs in gastric cancer: functions and clinical applications

Xiao-Huan Tang et al.

Summary: Exosomes, a subpopulation of the tumour microenvironment (TME), are crucial for intercellular communication and are enriched with noncoding RNAs that play important roles in the tumorigenesis, progression, and drug resistance of gastric cancer (GC). Regulating exosomal ncRNAs levels could potentially serve as therapeutic targets for GC treatment.

Naples Prognostic Score Predicts Tumor Regression Grade in Resectable Gastric Cancer Treated with Preoperative Chemotherapy

Eva Lieto et al.

Summary: Multimodal treatment of locally advanced gastric cancer, including perioperative chemotherapy with radical surgery, has better long-term outcomes than surgery alone in Europe. However, predicting the effectiveness of chemotherapy before surgery is challenging, with Naples Prognostic Score proving to be a valuable tool in predicting tumor regression grade and long-term outcomes.
