Genome-wide identification of auxin response factor (ARF) gene family and the miR160-ARF18-mediated response to salt stress in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

Yanyan Tang et al.

Summary: The study identified 29 and 30 ARF members from two wild peanut species, characterized their classifications, conserved domains, and evolutionary relationships. RNA-seq analyses showed some ARF genes responsive to abiotic stress, particularly high salinity, and two ARF members regulated by biotic stress, such as Bradyrhizobium infection in A. duranensis. Additionally, the ARF gene Arahy.7DXUOK was predicted as a potential target of miR160, with overexpression of miR160 leading to increased salt tolerance in transgenic plants.

Abiotic stress responses in plants

Huiming Zhang et al.

Summary: Plants face abiotic stresses like drought, salinity, and extreme temperatures, which greatly impact their distribution, growth, and crop productivity. Recent research has revealed the complex molecular mechanisms involved in plants' responses to these stresses, including sensing, signaling, transcription, translation, and post-translational modifications. This knowledge can be utilized to enhance crop resilience and sustainability through genetic, chemical, and microbial approaches.

Auxin Response Factors Are Ubiquitous in Plant Growth and Development, and Involved in Crosstalk between Plant Hormones: A Review

Xiaohong Kou et al.

Summary: Auxin response factors (ARFs) are a crucial family of transcription factors that play a key role in regulating the growth and development of various plant organs such as leaves, flowers, roots, and fruits. This review article summarizes recent research on ARFs and highlights their involvement in key life processes. It emphasizes the need to deepen our understanding of ARF interactions with other proteins or genes and suggests using technical tools to solve practical problems. The article also discusses the potential of improving the nutrition and functionality of plant-derived foods through gene editing and other means.

The auxin response factor (ARF) gene family in Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.): Genome-wide identification and their expression profiling under abiotic stresses

Longfei Jin et al.

Summary: In this study, 23 ARF genes were identified in oil palm, showing uneven distribution on 16 chromosomes. The evolution of ARF genes in the oil palm genome has expanded through segmental duplication events, and the cis-acting regulatory elements associated with stress and hormone responses were rich in this gene family.

Genome-wide analysis of auxin response factor (ARF) genes and functional identification of MdARF2 reveals the involvement in the regulation of anthocyanin accumulation in apple

Chu-Kun Wang et al.

Summary: This study identified 33 MdARF family members in the genome of apple and found MdARF2 to have a significant correlation with anthocyanin variation. Functional identification suggested that MdARF2 acts as a transcriptional repressor of anthocyanin biosynthesis in apple, indicating the role of MdARF family members in the regulation of anthocyanin accumulation.

Auxin Response Factor 2 (ARF2), ARF3, and ARF4 Mediate Both Lateral Root and Nitrogen Fixing Nodule Development in Medicago truncatula

Cristina Kirolinko et al.

Summary: The study identified the regulatory role of the MiR390/TAS3 pathway in lateral root development and nitrogen-fixing nodule formation; ARF3 and ARF4a are involved in lateral root development, while ARF4a also participates in nodule formation; The response of ARF2, ARF3, and ARF4a/b to rhizobia depends on the perception of Nod Factor.

Genetic Interaction of SEEDSTICK, GORDITA and AUXIN RESPONSE FACTOR 2 during Seed Development

Dario Paolo et al.

Summary: The seed development in Arabidopsis thaliana is controlled by three transcription factors, STK, GOA, and ARF2. Their interactions play crucial roles in the formation of seed coat, affecting seed size, shape, and metabolic pathways. Dynamic networks involving these transcription factors are active throughout ovule and seed development, influencing various aspects of seed development.
