CVD and COVID-19: Emerging Roles of Cardiac Fibroblasts and Myofibroblasts

Laxmansa C. Katwa et al.

Summary: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, and patients with cardiovascular diseases are more susceptible to severe complications of COVID-19. The role of cardiac myofibroblasts in both COVID-19-induced cardiac injury and healing process is crucial.

Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential capacities of AD-MSCs and BM-MSCs in suppressing pancreatic β-cells auto-immunity and apoptosis in rats with T1DM induced model

Shady G. El-Sawah et al.

Summary: This study determined the superiority of AD-MSCs injection as a pancreatic regenerative tool in treating type 1 diabetes. AD-MSCs exhibited significant antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic characteristics, reducing beta-cell death and restoring normal insulin secretion and hypoglycemic abilities.

Investigation of the antioxidant defensive role of both AD-MSCs and BM-MSCs in modulating the alteration in the oxidative stress status in various STZ-diabetic rats' tissues

Shady G. El-Sawah et al.

Summary: The study investigated the antioxidant potential of two types of MSCs in alleviating tissues' oxidative stress caused by Type 1 DM induction. Results showed that both AD-MSCs and BM-MSCs were able to improve the oxidative stress status in diabetic rats, with AD-MSCs showing superior benefits in reversing most of the measured parameters back to near normal levels.
