An environment-friendly and acid-degradable polymer templated synthesis of single-crystal hierarchical zeolites

Yuan Hu et al.

Summary: PK3 acts as a multifunctional template for synthesizing single-crystal hierarchical zeolites, inhibiting crystal growth to form nanocrystals, and eventually forming single-crystal zeolite particles. The easy removal of PK3 with simple acid treatment enables a nitrogen-/halogen-free and combustion-free route for hierarchical zeolite synthesis.

In situ construction of an immobilized b-oriented titanium silicalite spherical molecular sieve membrane

Yichuan Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a single layer of b-oriented continuous titanium silicalite-1 (TS-1) molecular sieve membrane was successfully prepared on the surface of 2-mm alumina beads, providing a foundation for the design of novel TS-1 immobilized catalyst. The directional growth of molecular sieve membranes on spherical substrates has not been reported before, and the membrane showed potential in catalyzing the epoxidation of chloropropene with high conversion and selectivity.

Platelike MFI Crystals with Controlled Crystal Faces Aspect Ratio

Weijiong Dai et al.

Summary: A simple synthetic strategy was developed to reduce the thickness of zeolite crystals along the b-axis, providing a short diffusion path along the straight channel. The synthesized MFI crystals, with micrometer-size along the a- and c-axis and thickness in the tens of nanometers along the b-axis, showed good catalytic activity in the methanol-to-hydrocarbons reaction. The synthesis of platelike MFI crystals was successfully scaled up to a kilogram scale, demonstrating extended catalytic lifetime compared to commercial nanosized samples.

TS-1 zeolite with homogeneous distribution of Ti atoms in the framework: synthesis, crystallization mechanism and its catalytic performance

Zhen Chen et al.

Summary: The homogeneous distribution of titanium atoms in TS-1 zeolite (BUS-TS-1) synthesized under high basicity conditions through a bottom-up strategy leads to better catalytic performance for both olefin and alkane oxidation. Gripper-like silicon species can condense with Ti-OH to form stable Si-O-Ti species, ensuring the phase transfer rates match during crystallization and result in the uniform distribution of Ti atoms. This work offers a useful strategy for synthesizing high-performance catalysts by regulating the distribution of Ti active sites within the TS-1 framework.

Haoyang Zhang et al.

Summary: A series of Mo-containing MFI zeolites with different Mo loadings were synthesized using a Mo-EDTA complex as the Mo source. The complexing capability of EDTA(2-) played a critical role in adjusting the release rate of Mo species and achieving a uniform distribution of Mo in the MFI framework. The optimized catalyst, Mo-MFI-50, exhibited efficient conversion of cyclohexene to epoxide with high selectivity.

Simultaneous amorphous silica and phosphorus recovery from rice husk poultry litter ash

Laura Fiameni et al.

Summary: The livestock sector faces serious waste disposal and environmental consequences, with manure containing large amounts of phosphorus and other elements that can be recycled. This paper focuses on the extraction and recovery of amorphous silica from rice husk poultry litter ash, showing that almost pure silica can be recovered, rendering the residual ash free of phosphorus. It also discusses the possibility of more specific phosphorous extraction procedures.
