Surfactant-Assisted Direct Crystallization of CON-Type Zeolites with Particle Size and Acid-Site Location Controlled

Masato Sawada et al.

Summary: In this study, boroaluminosilicate zeolites with varying Si/Al ratios were synthesized using a direct crystallization method. The addition of CTAB in the synthesis gel led to the formation of smaller particles and larger external surface area in the resulting zeolites. These CTAB-containing zeolites showed enhanced catalyst lifetime and propylene selectivity in the methanol-to-olefin reaction. Spectroscopic analysis confirmed that CTAB had negligible impact on the local structure of the zeolites, but decreased the amount of Al and related acid sites on the external surface. This study revealed the dual role of CTAB in controlling particle size and Al site distribution, which contributed to the improved catalytic performance.

Zeolite nanosheets for catalysis

Xiangyu Wang et al.

Summary: Zeolites with well-defined micropores are widely used as heterogeneous catalysts, but their catalytic performances are often limited by diffusion constraints. Synthesizing zeolite nanosheets is an efficient method to shorten the diffusion pathway and eliminate the constraints. This tutorial review discusses the recent progresses in the synthesis of zeolite nanosheets and their catalysis, providing significant insights for designing and preparing highly efficient zeolite catalysts.

Methanol-to-Olefins Reaction over Large-Pore Zeolites: Impact of Pore Structure on Catalytic Performance

Sungsik Park et al.

Summary: This study compared the catalytic performance of different zeolites in the methanol-to-olefins reaction, finding that MCM-68 exhibited the highest selectivities for propylene and butylenes, while [Al,B]-CON achieved the highest propylene-to-ethylene ratio. ZSM-5 and [Al,B]-CON showed superior ability to suppress coke formation compared to other zeolites.

Synthesis of novel aluminoborosilicate isomorphous to zeolite TUN and its acidic and catalytic properties

Feiyu Qin et al.

Summary: The novel TUN-type aluminoborosilicate zeolite was successfully synthesized and applied in cracking reactions, with optimized mother gel composition and controlled acidic properties. The [Al, B]-TUN zeolites showed longer catalyst duration and higher P/E ratio than [Al]-TUN, indicating a preference for propylene production. The relationship between acidic properties and carking behaviors was further supported by the constraint index (CI) value measurement.
