Lecithin sensitized thermo-sensitive niosome using NIR-carbon dots for breast cancer combined chemo-photothermal therapy

Faeze Khakbaz et al.

Summary: A new class of thermo-sensitive niosome (TS-Nio) was synthesized for combined chemo-photothermal therapy. The results showed that TS-Nio had a significant difference in drug release between normal and cancer cell conditions. TS-Nio exhibited the highest toxicity on MCF-7 cancer cells. In terms of chemophotothermal therapy, TS-Nio showed excellent targeting and efficacy on MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines.

Mohamad Mahani et al.

Summary: In this study, an annexin V-based probe using carbon quantum dots was designed and fabricated for real-time fluorescence imaging of apoptotic cells. The probe showed strong fluorescence emission in the presence of phosphatidylserine on the outer layer of the apoptotic cell membrane, and it could be used to sensitively determine phosphatidylserine and monitor cell apoptosis in real time using fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy.

Single walled carbon nanotubes in high concentrations is cytotoxic to the human neuronal cell LN18

Vaniyamparambath Vijayalakshmi et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the toxicity of pristine single walled carbon nanotubes (P-SWCNT) and carboxylic functionalized single walled carbon nanotubes (C-SWCNT) on human neuronal cell line LN18. The results show that both P-SWCNT and C-SWCNT exhibit toxicity to LN18 cells, with higher toxicity observed for C-SWCNT.

Summary: In this study, an ultra-sensitive label-free nanobiosensor was developed for the detection of PSA at low concentrations in urine samples. Computational modeling and molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the binding mechanism between antibody and PSA protein, while factors affecting the detection were optimized to achieve a detection limit of 0.2 ng mL(-1) and calibration sensitivity of 0143.75 nm (ng mL(-1)).

Doxorubicin delivery to breast cancer cells with transferrin-targeted carbon quantum dots: An in vitro and in silico study

Mohamad Mahani et al.

Summary: This study developed a nano-carrier based on transferrin-modified carbon quantum dots for the targeted delivery of the anti-breast cancer drug doxorubicin. The nano-carrier showed efficient cytotoxicity and cellular uptake in MCF-7 cells, and the conjugate was found to be more toxic than doxorubicin alone due to its ability to overcome multidrug resistance of cancer cells. Molecular docking studies confirmed the potential of this system as an excellent targeted drug delivery system for breast cancer therapy.
