Tunable Plasmonic Properties of Bimetallic Au-Cu Nanorods for SERS-Based Sensing Application

Xiem Thi Van et al.

Summary: Bimetallic Au-Cu nanorods were successfully synthesized using a seed-mediated co-reduction strategy. The aspect ratio and plasmon wavelength of the nanoparticles could be controlled by varying the metal precursor ratio, gold seed solution volume, or silver nitrate solution volume. The study found that increasing the copper content and decreasing the gold seed and silver nitrate volumes led to an increase in the aspect ratio of the bimetallic Au-Cu nanorods. Furthermore, increasing the aspect ratios significantly improved the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) performance of the nanorods.

Deep Learning-Based Spectral Extraction for Improving thePerformance of Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy Analysis onMultiplexed Identification and Quantitation

Jie Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel spectral extraction neural network (SENN) model was proposed for synchronous SERS detection of each component in mixed solutions. The SENN model showed high consistency between extracted spectra and spectra collected from pure samples. The combination of a convolutional neural network model and the SENN allowed for qualitative and quantitative SERS analysis of mixture solutions with low relative standard deviation.

A sensitive and reproducible SERS sensor based on natural lotus leaf for paraquat detection

Ling Yao et al.

Summary: A facile and green approach using natural lotus leaf as a superhydrophobic platform for sensitive and reproducible SERS detection was proposed. The hydrophobic concentrating effect of the lotus leaf surface greatly enhances the assembling process, resulting in the formation of a small disc with a diameter of only about 0.5 mm in the final assembled Ag spot.

A 3D Plasmonic Crossed-Wire Nanostructure for Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering and Plasmon-Enhanced Fluorescence Detection

Chun-Ta Huang et al.

Summary: The 3D-RCW nanostructures provide rich antenna and hot spot effects responsive for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and plasmon-enhanced fluorescence (PEF). By optimizing the construction mode, successful measurements and characterizations of SERS and PEF of pesticides were achieved.

lSimultaneous In Situ Extraction and Self-Assembly of Plasmonic Colloidal Gold Superparticles for SERS Detection of Organochlorine Pesticides in Water

Ruili Li et al.

Summary: A novel strategy of simultaneous in situ extraction and fabrication of plasmonic colloidal gold superparticles was developed for rapid SERS detection of organochlorine pesticide residues in environmental water. The established method showed strong anti-interference ability and comparable quantification ranges with a low limit of detection for detecting multiple OCPs in real water samples.

Revealing unconventional host-guest complexation at nanostructured interface by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy

Gan-Yu Chen et al.

Summary: Interfacial host-guest complexation is a versatile way to functionalize nanomaterials, but the study of it is difficult due to the complicated interfacial environment. Using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), a cooperative effect between CB[7] and MV2+ on aggregating Au NPs was revealed, along with similar guest complexations among CB[n]s and MV2+. This unconventional exclusive complexation model provides new insights into host-guest interactions at nanostructured interfaces, which could be beneficial for applications in engineered nanomaterials.
