This paper discusses the fracture analysis of CNT reinforced FG structures under thermo-mechanical load and finds that increasing the CNT content can delay fracture occurrence.
This paper discusses the fracture analysis of FG structures reinforced by CNT exposed to thermo-mechanical load by means of the XIGA framework. The equivalent properties of functionally graded structures reinforced by CNT (SWCNT & MWCNT) are computed using micro-mechanics models. The volume fraction of CNT has an impact on the mechanical and thermal properties. Then, a preexisting crack is considered in the CNT reinforced FG square structure to perform the fracture analysis. The SIFs are calculated by the interaction integral method. It is noted that delaying of the fracture is possible with the increase of CNT content in FG structure.
