An adaptive XIGA with locally refined NURBS for modeling cracked composite FG Mindlin-Reissner plates

Jiankang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on numerical investigations of the mechanical behavior of cracked composite functionally graded plates using an adaptive approach combining XIGA and LR NURBS. The method demonstrated improved accuracy through adaptive local refinements and showed characteristics of high precision at low cost and fast convergence rate compared to uniform global refinement. Various factors affecting critical buckling loads and natural frequencies were investigated.

A thermo-mechanical fracture analysis of linear elastic materials using XIGA

Aanchal Yadav et al.

Summary: This work presents the application of extended isogeometric analysis (XIGA) for analyzing cracks in elastic materials under thermal, mechanical, and thermo-mechanical loading. The study compares the effects of mechanical and combined thermo-mechanical load on stress intensity factors (SIFs). Two types of cracks, isothermal and adiabatic cracks, are considered for simulation. Suitable enrichment functions are used to model the cracks, and a modified domain-based interaction integral approach is employed to extract the SIFs. Multiple simulations are performed to validate the accuracy of the results, and the effects of discontinuities (such as voids) on SIFs are analyzed.

Extended isogeometric analysis for fracture in functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic material

S. K. Singh et al.

Summary: In this work, an extended isogeometric analysis (XIGA) method is proposed for cracked functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic (FGMEE) materials. The effects of various parameters on the generalized intensity factors are evaluated, providing insight into the accuracy of the XIGA method for studying crack behavior in different material domains.

Extended isogeometric analysis using B plus plus splines for strong discontinuous problems

Wenbin Hou et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new method that combines XIGA and B++ splines for modeling fracture behaviors in 2D elasticity solids. By adjusting the relationship between control points and collocation points, it successfully addresses the issues of imposing strong Dirichlet boundary conditions and clarifying the physical meaning of DOFs.

Geometrically nonlinear extended isogeometric analysis for cohesive fracture with applications to delamination in composites

Farshid Fathi et al.

Summary: The proposed method introduces a geometrically nonlinear extended isogeometric analysis approach for cohesive fracture, employing a shifting technique and blending technique, along with Bezier extraction and a sign function. This approach effectively mitigates the influence of the crack on structural strength.
