Bio-AgNPs-based electrochemical nanosensors for the sensitive determination of 4-nitrophenol in tomato samples: the roles of natural plant extracts in physicochemical parameters and sensing performance

Nguyen Le Nhat Trang et al.

Summary: This study reports efficient electrochemical nanosensors for the sensitive monitoring of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) in tomato samples. Three different types of biosynthesized silver nanoparticles (bio-AgNPs) were synthesized using natural plant extracts, and their effects on the formation of bio-AgNPs and the analytical performance of 4-NP were investigated. The phytochemical content in the plant extracts directly influenced the physicochemical parameters of the created bio-AgNPs, which in turn affected the electrocatalytic activity and electrochemical sensing performance of the modified electrodes. Among the three types of bio-AgNPs evaluated, the ones synthesized using green tea leaf extract showed the best analytical performance for 4-NP determination.
