Effect of alloying and microstructure on formability of advanced high-strength steels processed via quenching and partitioning

P. Xia et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the impact of alloying and microstructure on the formability of advanced high strength steels processed via quenching and partitioning. The results show that changes in the fraction of retained austenite can affect plastic strain, but the steel with the highest retained austenite fraction may lead to the formation of microcracks, resulting in reduced formability.

Analysis of work hardening mechanisms in Quenching and Partitioning steels combining experiments with a 3D micro-mechanical model

Carola Celada-Casero et al.

Summary: This study systematically examines the influence of martensite carbon content and distribution on the overall TRIP strengthening contribution of Q & P processed steels through a combination of crystal plasticity simulations and experimental data analysis. The results show that the strength and work hardening ability of martensite may affect the strengthening contribution from the austenite-to-alpha'(mech) transformation during uniaxial loading.

Strain Rate Dependent Ductility and Strain Hardening in Q&P Steels

Christopher B. Finfrock et al.

Summary: Q&P steels have the potential to reduce vehicle mass and energy consumption, enhancing ductility and strain hardening through DIMT. Precise control of austenite stability is crucial for improving mechanical performance. Increasing strain rates may lead to reduced uniform elongation and a need to balance competing effects for further optimization.

Barriers to and uncertainties in understanding and quantifying global critical mineral and element supply

Brian A. McNulty et al.

Summary: This article discusses the by-product nature of critical minerals and elements, the uncertainties in reported annual production, and the relationships between these commodities and main-product metals and associated concentrates. It also explores the geological and geographical barriers to critical mineral and element supplies, as well as how the lack of available data and uncertainties hinder the estimation of global resources.
