Influence of different substrates on the microstructure and mechanical properties of WC-12Co cemented carbide fabricated via laser melting deposition

Xiaofeng Li et al.

Summary: This study focused on analyzing the microstructure and mechanical properties of cemented carbides fabricated via LMD on different substrates. The results showed that cemented carbide formed on the WC-20Co substrate had higher density and fewer cracks and pores compared to the 45# steel substrate. The smaller grain size in the microstructure of the cemented carbide formed on the 45# steel substrate was possibly influenced by differences in liquid phase point and solid solubility between the two materials.

Study on the effect of preheating temperature of SLM process on characteristics of CoCrMo alloy

Gyung Bae Bang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of pre-heating temperature on the microstructure and mechanical characteristics of CoCrMo alloy specimens in selective laser melting process. Increasing the pre-heating temperature inhibits the phase transformation and results in coarse grain. However, it improves the elongation property while only minimally reducing the strength. The cooling speed increases with higher pre-heating temperature, which decreases the residual stress and improves the mechanical characteristics.
