Bimodal grain structures and tensile properties of a biomedical Co-20Cr-15W-10Ni alloy with different pre-strains

Cheng-Lin Li et al.

Summary: The influence of pre-strain on the bimodal grain structures and tensile properties of a Co-20Cr-15W-10Ni alloy was investigated. High pre-strain intensifies plasticity heterogeneity, while high-temperature annealing increases the size and volume fraction of coarse grains. Tensile properties strongly depend on the size ratio and volume fraction of fine grains/coarse grains in addition to the average grain size in the bimodal grain structures.

Development of Low-Yield Stress Co-Cr-W-Ni Alloy by Adding 6 Mass Pct Mn for Balloon-Expandable Stents

Soh Yanagihara et al.

Summary: This study developed a new Co-Cr-W-Ni-Mn alloy with excellent balance of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance for use as balloon-expandable stents. The addition of Mn improved the alloy's ductility and lowered the yield stress, while also enhancing stent recoil suppression and ductility.
