Investigation on the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of partially recrystallized Fe-27Mn-10Al-1.4C steel

Guofeng Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, Fe-Mn-Al-C high-manganese steels with excellent strength and ductility were developed, and a bimodal microstructure was formed through cold rolling and annealing treatment. The synergistic effect between recrystallization-induced softening and kappa-carbide precipitation resulted in superior mechanical properties of the steel specimens.

Evolution of microstructure, texture and mechanical properties of Fe-30Mn-11Al-1.2C low-density steel during cold rolling

P. Ren et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the evolution of microstructure and texture as well as mechanical properties during cold rolling of Fe-30Mn-11Al-1.2C steel. The yield strength of the steel was significantly enhanced with cold rolling, and different deformation substructures were formed in sequence. The rolling texture of the steel transitioned from copper-type to brass-type with increasing rolling reduction.

Microstructure and deformation behaviour of austenitic low-density steels: The defining role of B2 intermetallic phase

Bidyapati Mishra et al.

Summary: Fe-Mn-Al-C-based steels are considered as candidate materials for automotive and structural applications due to the feasibility of significant weight reduction and superior strength-ductility combination. The presence of B2 phase in alloys leads to higher strength but reduced tensile ductility, while hardness and orientation relationship play a significant role in plastic deformation.
