The analysis examined the structure of the AA5051 alloy under different plastic deformation schemes. It was found that the sample's pre-history deformation had a significant impact on its structural transitions, with the sample subjected to compression with torsion showing higher metastability and a tendency towards recrystallization during heating and isothermal annealing.
The analysis of the structure of the AA5051 alloy subjected to different schemes of the plastic deformation was performed. Three types of the sample were prepared from a hot-pressed rod of the wrought AA5051 alloy. Two of them were subjected to the plastic deformation at room temperature -the compression between flat dies and the compression with torsion, which allows to initiate the intense shear deformation. Mechanical spectroscopy being highly structure sensitive method was used to study structural transitions in the samples. Strong dependence on the sample pre-history deformation is reported through heating and isothermal tests. In total, the sample sub-jected to compression with torsion demonstrates much higher metastablity and tendency to recrystallization both at heating and isothermal annealing which is the result of higher dislocation density after this deformation scheme.
