A new void coalescence mechanism during incremental sheet forming: Ductile fracture modeling and experimental validation

Zhidong Chang et al.

Summary: Studying the enhanced formability of sheet metal through a new void coalescence method and introducing new parameters into the classic GTN model, an extended GTN damage model was developed to describe this new void coalescence mechanism in ISF process. This research revealed the fundamental understanding of improved formability in ISF and demonstrated the comprehensive capability of the extended GTN model in predicting ductile fracture behavior with satisfactory accuracy.

Scale-bridging analysis of heterogeneous deformation behavior in austenitic stainless steel

Koki Yamamoto et al.

Summary: In this study, scale-bridging analysis was conducted on the heterogeneous deformation behavior in SUS310S austenitic stainless steel using X-ray line profile analysis, digital image correlation (DIC), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that increasing strain led to higher dislocation density and smaller crystallite size, with different forms of dislocation distribution observed in different stages of deformation.
