The precipitation behaviours and strengthening mechanism of a Cu-0.4 wt% Sc alloy

Zifan Hao et al.

Summary: The precipitation behaviors and corresponding strengthening mechanism of a Cu-0.4 wt% Sc alloy during aging process were systematically investigated. The alloy showed significant precipitation strengthening effect attributed to extremely small Cu4Sc precipitates (1.5-3 nm) leading to the superposition of coherent strengthening and Orowan strengthening effects.

Selective laser melting of Cu-Ni-Sn: A comprehensive study on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and deformation behavior

Chao Zhao et al.

Summary: A comprehensive understanding of the deformation behavior and strengthening mechanism of the selective laser melted (SLM) alloy is crucial for maximizing the potential of the SLM process. This study focuses on the impact of SLM on the microstructure, deformation behavior, and mechanical properties of Cu-Ni-Sn alloy compared to their cast counterparts (CC). The SLM microstructure, characterized by increased dislocation density, offers a superior combination of tensile strength and ductility, mainly attributed to grain refinement, dispersed precipitation, and increased dislocation density.

Microstructure evolution and mechanical property of Cu-15Ni-8Sn-0.2Nb alloy during aging treatment

Nan Wang et al.

Summary: This study characterized the microstructure evolution of a Cu-15Ni-8Sn-0.2Nb alloy aged at 400 degrees C using transmission electron microscopy, revealing modulated structures, ordering precipitates, and discontinuous precipitation. The coherence between the two ordering phases and matrix resulted in the maximum hardness of the alloy. These findings highlight the importance of aging treatment on structural evolution and mechanical property of Cu-based alloys for extensive engineering applications.
