Simultaneously improved mechanical and thermal properties of Mg-Zn-Zr alloy reinforced by ultra-low content of graphene nanoplatelets

Xian Du et al.

Summary: Adding ultra-low content of graphene nanoplatelets to Mg-Zn-Zr (ZK60) alloys improves the impact toughness and tensile strength of the composites significantly. The reinforcement also enhances thermal conductivity and expands the potential applications of the materials.

Influence of undissolved second-phase particles on dynamic recrystallization behavior of Mg-7Sn-1Al-1Zn alloy during low- and high-temperature extrusions

Hyun Ji Kim et al.

Summary: The study found that fine particles can retard dynamic recrystallization through the Zener pinning effect, resulting in the formation of a bimodal recrystallized grain structure with excessively grown grains. In contrast, coarse particles promote dynamic recrystallization through particle-stimulated nucleation phenomenon, leading to the formation of a more uniform recrystallized grain size.
