Summary: Developing a novel heterogeneous catalyst for regioselective ring-opening reactions of spiro-epoxyoxindoles has significant importance in the pharmaceutical industry. In this study, a chiral-phase pure Zn-based metal-organic framework (MOF) was synthesized and shown to efficiently catalyze the formation of beta-alkoxy/beta-hydroxy alcohols. The catalyst exhibited excellent activity and stability, and the catalytic products were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) analysis.

Summary: In this study, a Ce-MOFs with uncoordinated imine groups (N-Ce-salen) was synthesized using a solution-diffusion method, and served as a metalloligand to coordinate with Fe(III) ions forming a catalyst. The developed catalyst showed excellent performance for the reaction of ring-opening of epoxides with alcohols.

Summary: Tuning of metal-metal/oxide interaction is crucial for enhancing supported catalyst performance. In this study, a Cu/Zn bimetallic MOFs was synthesized and converted into a ZnO/nitrogen-doped carbon composite supported Cu catalyst (Cu-ZnO/NC-BMOFs) for hydrogenation-amination tandem reaction. The developed catalyst exhibited superior performance and stability compared to traditional Cu/ZnO/NC-IWI catalyst, converting nitroarenes into imines or secondary amines with high selectivity.

Summary: This study developed a novel Co3ZnC and ZnO supported on N-doped carbon nanosheet catalyst with high catalytic activity for the one-pot reductive amination of nitroarenes with aromatic aldehydes. The catalyst showed excellent conversion rate and selectivity, as well as high stability during recycling experiments. The intentional introduction of ZnO played a key role in enhancing the selectivity of the catalyst.

Summary: This study focuses on the preparation and characterization of a redox-active PCN-700-based MOF that mimics the [FeFe] hydrogenase enzyme, revealing similarities and limitations in the MOF-enzyme analogy. The dual-functionalized MOF shows nonideal interactions between linkers and restricted mobility of charge-compensating redox-inactive counterions upon successive charging, leading to absent expected redox features in cyclic voltammetry. These nonlinear effects may play an important role in MOFs for catalytic applications.

Summary: The study successfully prepared LaOCl supported Fe-Fe3C-based carbon-nitrogen catalyst by bi-MOF templated pyrolysis, showing excellent hydrogenation performance. The unique catalytic efficiency depends significantly on the synergistic effect of Fe and Fe3C, large specific surface area, and structural defects.
