Recent research progress of bimetallic phosphides-based nanomaterials as cocatalyst for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Chunmei Li et al.

Summary: Hydrogen energy is considered a potential candidate for replacing traditional fossil fuels due to its high combustion heat value and low environmental pollution. Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution from water splitting is a promising technology to convert solar energy into sustainable H-2 fuel. Developing high-activity semiconductor materials is crucial for efficient hydrogen evolution in photocatalysis. Transition metal phosphides have shown advantages as co-catalysts, and bimetallic phosphides have attracted attention due to their lower overpotential, superior conductivity, and better charge carriers transfer impedance. This minireview summarizes the latest developments of bimetallic phosphides in photocatalytic reactions, including loading methods, efficiency in H-2 evolution, and application under dye sensitization effect.

Synergies of Adjacent Sites in Atomically Dispersed Ruthenium toward Achieving Stable Hydrogen Evolution

Chunmei Li et al.

Summary: This study successfully implanted atomically dispersed Ru clusters into PCN using an ionic diffusion and coordination strategy, which enhances stability with robust Ru-N bonds and facilitates charge transport between RuN4 and RuN3 structures, leading to decreased hydrogen adsorption energy. The optimized PCN-Ru photocatalyst significantly outperformed the Pt/PCN benchmark, achieving nearly 6 times higher photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate and maintaining long-term stable operation.

High-efficient charge separation driven directionally by pyridine rings grafted on carbon nitride edge for boosting photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Chunmei Li et al.

Summary: This study achieves dual regulation of adjusting electron hybridization structure and electron directional transfer from center to edge of CN by grafting pyridine rings on the edge of CN framework, promoting separation of photogenerated carriers and avoiding recombination. The HER rate of up to 6317.5 μmol g(-1) h(-1) is obtained over the optimum 2AP-CN-15 sample, with an apparent quantum efficiency reaching 20.1% at 420 nm.

A XANES study of lithium polysulfide solids: a first-principles study

Qing Guo et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a series of stoichiometric lithium polysulfide solids using S K-edge X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) and finds that introducing a Li vacancy in these solids leads to a redshift in the S K-edge XANES peak. The peak positions of these solids overlap with the white line of alpha-S-8 bulk, suggesting that additional characterization methods may be necessary for accurate identification of solid phase lithium polysulfides in Li-S batteries.
