Structural, optical, and magnetic properties of Mn-doped NiO thin films prepared by sol-gel spin coating

N. R. Aswathy et al.

Summary: The research investigated the structural, morphological, optical, and magnetic properties of Mn-doped NiO thin films, revealing that Mn doping alters the lattice parameters and introduces strain in NiO films, while increasing Mn content decreases the intensity of the Photoluminescence spectra.

Performance improvement in amorphous zinc tin oxide ultraviolet photodetectors using an asymmetric pair of interdigitated electrodes

Chien-Yie Tsay et al.

Summary: Solar-blind ultraviolet photodetectors with an amorphous zinc-tin oxide sensing layer were fabricated and the effects of asymmetry ratio of a pair of aluminum interdigitated electrodes on the photoelectrical characteristics were investigated. The experimental results showed that the photodetectors had the best responsivity and specific detectivity when the asymmetry ratio was 10:1.

Improving the photoelectrical characteristics of self-powered p-GaN film/n-ZnO nanowires heterojunction ultraviolet photodetectors through gallium and indium co-doping

Chien-Yie Tsay et al.

Summary: Various doped zinc oxide nanowire arrays were grown on a template of sapphire/p-GaN thin film using low-temperature hydrothermal method, and their effects on microstructural and optical properties were investigated to fabricate different p-n heterojunction UV photodetectors. Under UV illumination, Ga-In co-doped ZnO nanowire arrays exhibited the best photosensing characteristics, with a high light-to-dark current ratio and low turn-on voltage. The p-GaN/n-GIZO heterojunction UV photodetector showed superior photoresponse performance at zero-bias voltage compared to single-doped and un-doped ZnO devices.

Structural, spectroscopic and electrical properties of dc magnetron sputtered NiO thin films and an insight into different defect states

Parashurama Salunkhe et al.

Summary: The study focused on the influence of sputter power on the physical properties of NiO films grown by DC magnetron sputtering, revealing a polycrystalline nature with FCC phase and an increase in band gap with higher sputter power. XPS and Raman spectra confirmed the presence of Ni2+ and Ni3+ states in the films, while electrical properties showed an increase in resistivity and a mobility of around 84 cm² V⁻¹ s⁻¹.

Base-width modulation effects on the optoelectronic characteristics of n-ITO/p-NiO/n-ZnO heterojunction bipolar phototransistors

Jun-Dar Hwang et al.

Summary: In this study, ITO/NiO/ZnO npn heterojunction bipolar phototransistors (HBPTs) with different base widths were fabricated using a radio-frequency sputtering system. It was observed that the dark current decreases with increasing base width, while the photocurrent increases with decreasing base width. The responsivity and detectivity were found to be highest in HBPTs with a 100 nm base width.

Optical and electrical properties of NiO and Cu-doped NiO thin films synthesized by spray pyrolysis

Muzamil Aftab et al.

Summary: The study focused on synthesizing NiO and NiO:Cu thin films using spray pyrolysis technique on soda-lime glass substrate, and investigating their optical properties and electrical resistivity. Increasing the Cu/Ni ratio led to a decrease in optical band gap, an increase in refractive index, and Urbach energy. The refractive index values calculated empirically were in good agreement with the measured values.
