Improved visible light photocatalytic degradation of yttrium doped NiMgAl layered triple hydroxides for the effective removal of methylene blue dye

Summary: The fabrication of layered triple hydroxides (LTH) doped with different weight percentages of yttrium (Y) was investigated using hydrothermal method, with the 1 wt.% Y-doped LTH showing the highest photocatalytic degradation efficiency for methylene blue dye under visible light irradiation. The optimized LTH exhibited improved photocatalytic performance due to enhanced visible light absorption, reduced transmission, and improved electron-hole separation.

Improved H2 production of ZnO@ZnS nanorod-decorated Ni foam immobilized photocatalysts

Summary: The ZnO@ZnS nanorod-decorated Ni foam photocatalyst showed enhanced photocatalytic activity for hydrogen generation compared to the ZnO/Ni foam counterpart. The incorporation of the ZnS shell and the conductive Ni foam substrate facilitated the separation of photoexcited charge carriers. The porous texture of the Ni foam promoted effective contact between the sacrificial agent and the immobilized photocatalyst, leading to improved hydrogen generation performance.

Role of precursor dependent nanostructures of ZnO on its optical and photocatalytic activity and influence of FRET between ZnO and methylene blue dye on photocatalysis
