Microstructure and wear behavior of laser clad interstitial CoCrFeNi high entropy alloy coating reinforced by carbon nanotubes

Bing Han et al.

Summary: The effect of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in reinforcing a laser clad interstitial CoCrFeNi high entropy alloy coating was investigated. The addition of CNTs enhanced the hardness and wear properties of the coating. The microstructure of the CNTs on the powder surface was well protected from damage, and the wear rate of the coating was significantly reduced. This improvement in wear performance was attributed to the solution strengthening and precipitation strengthening effects of carbon and carbides.
