The dynamic recrystallization mechanism of ultrasonic power on non-contact ultrasonic-assisted direct laser deposited alloy steel

Lin Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamic recrystallization behavior of non-contact ultrasonic-assisted direct laser deposited alloy steel. The results show that ultrasonic power has a significant influence on the grain size and tensile properties of the prepared alloy steel samples. The introduction of non-contact ultrasonic induces dislocation movement and triggers dynamic recrystallization. The optimized ultrasonic power achieves the best strength-plasticity matching relationship and improved strong-plastic product performance.

Analysis and characterization of dynamic recrystallization and grain structure evolution in friction stir welding of aluminum plates

Pengfei Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, a model for numerical simulation of dynamic recrystallization in friction stir welding of aluminum plates was developed using the Monte Carlo method. The predicted evolution of grain structures in the welds showed good agreement with experimentally measured values. The analysis revealed different DRX mechanisms along the material flowing path during friction stir welding, with the tool rotation speed determining the type of DRX that occurs at different positions.

Enhanced strength in pure Ti via design of alternating coarse- and fine-grain layers

Danyang Li et al.

Summary: A specially designed layered titanium with alternating coarse- and fine-grain layers (C/F-Ti) shows an extraordinarily high yield strength beyond predicted values, with the strengthening mechanism investigated through experimental characterizations. The enhanced interface constraint effect on deformation mechanism in hexagonal close-packed (hcp) materials is highlighted, demonstrating a new structural design strategy for property optimization.

Summary: A new concept was proposed to design the microstructure of materials macrodirectionally according to specific service requirements, effectively solving the paradox of high strength and high conductivity in copper contact wires in a high-speed train. This concept can also be applied to solve other property paradoxes of functional and structural materials.
