Chain Conformation and Liquid-Crystalline Structures of a Poly(thieno)thiophene

Chang Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, the chain conformation and solid-state structure of a high-performance conjugated polymer, PBTTT_C14, were investigated using small-angle neutron scattering and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results showed that PBTTT_C14 has a more rigid backbone compared to P3HT. The structural evolution of PBTTT_C14 during heating was also studied, revealing the transitions and structural changes of side chains and backbones. Additionally, two different liquid crystalline phases were identified in PBTTT_C14.

Transforming Polymorphs via Meniscus-Assisted Solution-Shearing Conjugated Polymers for Organic Field-Effect Transistors

Shuwen Chen et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new method to effectively modulate polymorphs of conjugated polymers and investigate the relationship between different polymorphs and charge transport characteristics. The research demonstrates that polymorph transformation can be efficiently achieved with this method, elucidating the kinetics of the transformation and its impact. The results reveal a strong correlation between device performance and attained polymorphs and crystal orientations.

Large-Scale Rapid Positioning of Hierarchical Assemblies of Conjugated Polymers via Meniscus-Assisted Self-Assembly

Shuang Pan et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for rapid positioning of hierarchically assembled dots and stripes composed of luminescent conjugated polymer over two length scales using Meniscus-assisted self-assembly (MASA). Conjugated poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene) (PFO) polymers yield dots, punch-holes, and stripes at a microscopic scale via MASA, while also self-assembling into two-dimensional lenticular crystals at the nanoscopic scale. The hierarchical assembly achieved through this process opens up the possibility for large-scale organization of a wide range of soft matters and nanomaterials.

Optimizing the Crystallization Behavior and Film Morphology of Donor-Acceptor Conjugated Semiconducting Polymers by Side-Chain-Solvent Interaction in Nonpolar Solvents

Hongxiang Li et al.

Summary: By regulating the interaction between the polymer side chain and solvent, the film formation process and morphology were effectively controlled, maintaining highly ordered aggregates in the drop-casting film. This precise adjustment of the solution state played a crucial role in optimizing device performance.

Regioregularity-Dependent Crystalline Structures and Thermal Transitions in Poly(3-dodecylthiophene)s

Hyeonjung Park et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the temperature-dependent liquid crystalline phases of RR-controlled P3DDTs, showing that decreasing the RR leads to decreased phase transition temperatures and the adoption of different crystal structures. The findings explain the effects of RR on the crystalline structures and thermotropic liquid crystalline behavior of P3DDTs, enabling precise control over their self-assembly and optoelectrical properties.

Impact of P3HT Regioregularity and Molecular Weight on the Efficiency and Stability of Perovskite Solar Cells

Narges Yaghoobi Nia et al.

Summary: This study prepared four different P3HTs using sustainable synthetic methods and found that the highest efficiency was achieved with the highest MW and low-RR polymer, demonstrating the potential of achieving promising results with lower-MW but fully regioregular polymer. Additionally, large-area devices fabricated with a high-MW P3HT showed excellent stability under accelerated thermal stress tests and continuous light soaking.

Understanding of Face-On Crystallites Transitioning to Edge-On Crystallites in Thiophene-Based Conjugated Polymers

Sung Yun Son et al.

Summary: The orientation of crystallites in semicrystalline conjugated polymer thin films significantly impacts charge transport properties. In this study, a random copolymer RP-3T demonstrated a transition from predominantly face-on to edge-on orientation during annealing. Through detailed analysis, it was found that face-on crystallites disappear at a lower temperature while edge-on crystallites continue to grow, providing insight into the transition process.
