Modeling of Different Ordering Schemes for Halogen-Functionalized Molecules with Triazine and Benzene Core

Andrius Ibenskas et al.

Summary: Based on pairwise intermolecular interactions, a model is proposed to explain the occurrence of different structures in self-assembly experiments. It is found that even slight alterations in the balance of interactions can lead to the formation of different supramolecular networks.

Monte Carlo simulations of the self-assembly of hierarchically organized metal-organic networks on solid surfaces

Karolina Nieckarz et al.

Summary: The coordination-driven self-assembly of functional bridging ligands on a triangular lattice is studied using coarse-grained Monte Carlo simulations. By altering the composition of the investigated overlayers, the spontaneous formation of metal-organic networks with hierarchical structure and controllable chirality is observed.

Reactive Force Field-Based Molecular Dynamics Simulations on the Thermal Stability of Trimesic Acid on Graphene: Implications for the Design of Supramolecular Networks

Daniela K. Jacquelin et al.

Summary: In this study, the dynamics of TMA molecules on graphene at different network structures were investigated using ReaxFF force field. The honeycomb structure demonstrated higher thermal stability, with guest TMA molecules further enhancing it. The breakage of hydrogen bonds at high temperatures led to network melting.

Initiating Ullmann-like coupling of Br2Py by a semimetal surface

Jinping Hu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the self-assembly of 2,7-dibromopyrene (Br2Py) and the well-controllable dehalogenation reaction of Br2Py on the Bi(111)-Ag substrate using a combination of STM and DFT. It reveals that the pristine bismuth layer supported on the silver substrate can initiate Ullmann-like coupling in a desired manner by getting alloyed with Ag atoms underneath, while no side products have been discovered.

Modeling of High-Temperature Ordered Structures with Weak Intermolecular C-H•••F and C-H•••N Bonds

Andrius Ibenskas et al.

Summary: The self-assembly of a hydrogen bond donor-acceptor system with fluorinated pyridyl groups was studied to investigate the emergence of different ordered structures connected by weak C-H···F and C-H···N bonds. Using a model based on 4,4'-bis(2,6-difluoropyridin4-yl)-1,1'-biphenyl (BDFPBP), the bonding mechanisms of intact and damaged molecules at higher temperatures were explored, with new structures identified alongside known experimental phases through density functional theory and Monte Carlo simulations.
