Fingerprinting stealth metasomatism in ophiolitic peridotites

Qi-Qi Pan et al.

Summary: This study presents observations and analyses of mantle harzburgites in the Lycian ophiolite of SW Turkey, revealing their formation in a suprasubduction zone mantle wedge with well-preserved metasomatic signatures.

What can we learn from REE abundances in clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene in residual mantle peridotites?

Yan Liang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the REE abundance in clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene in residual spinel peridotites to understand mantle processes. It concluded that deducing melting parameters from bulk peridotite samples is more reliable than from clinopyroxene alone, and highlighted the different susceptibility of HREE in clinopyroxene and LREE in orthopyroxene to subsolidus redistribution.

Mechanism of formation of podiform chromitite: Insights from the oxidation states of podiform chromitites and host peridotites from the Luobusa ophiolite, southern Tibet

Yuan He et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the fO(2) values of dunites and chromitites in the Luobusa ophiolite in southern Tibet are higher than those of their host peridotites, likely inherited from their parental magmas. The formation of chromitites may be related to the exsolution of oxidized fluids from high-fO(2) magmas during subduction initiation.
