The Influence of 5-Fluorouracil on Drug Transporters is a Dose-Dependent Effect Mediated by Altered Expression of miRNAs

Sherien M. El-Daly et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the dose-dependent effect of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) on the expression of drug transporters and miRNAs in colorectal cancer. The results showed that a low dose of 5-FU upregulated the expression of drug transporters and miRNAs, while increasing the dose led to a decrease in expression.

Mechanism of acquired 5FU resistance and strategy for overcoming 5FU resistance focusing on 5FU metabolism in colon cancer cell lines

Tomonari Suetsugu et al.

Summary: Fluorouracil (5FU) is converted to its active metabolite fluoro-deoxyuridine monophosphate (FdUMP) through different pathways in different cells, contributing to varying mechanisms of resistance. When overcoming 5FU resistance, both the synthesized amount of FdUMP and sensitivity to FdUMP should be taken into consideration.

Dual Kinase Inhibition of EGFR/HER2: Design, Synthesis and Molecular Docking of Thiazolylpyrazolyl-Based Aminoquinoline Derivatives as Anticancer Agents**

Rasha Z. Batran et al.

Summary: Two series of aminoquinoline-based derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for their in vitro antiproliferative activity against MCF-7 breast cancer and HCT116 colorectal carcinoma cell lines. A promising derivative, 4 b, showed potent anticancer activity on HCT116 cells with dual kinase EGFR/HER2 inhibitory activity. The derivative was capable of arresting the cell cycle at G1 phase and inducing late cellular apoptosis, and exhibited promising binding energy scores into EGFR and HER2 active sites.
