Thermally activated construction of open metal sites on a Zn-organic framework: An effective strategy to enhance Lewis acid properties and catalytic performance for CO2 cycloaddition reactions

Jie Zhang et al.

Summary: The synthesis of cyclic carbonates from CO2 and epoxides utilizing MOFs with coordinatively unsaturated metal sites has been studied, highlighting the importance of constructing open metal sites (OMSs) on MOFs to enhance catalytic activity. A thermal treatment method was used to regulate the OMS content and Lewis acid properties of MOFs, with exposed Zn2+ sites showing good affinity for CO2 adsorption during the cycloaddition reaction. The catalytic activity of MOFs is closely related to the amount and strength of their Lewis acid centers, with moderate Lewis acid centers playing a more significant role in the catalytic activity.

Bao Song et al.

Summary: A facile method using copper pyrithione (CuPT) as the catalyst was described for the synthesis of N-arylheterocycles and di(hetero)aryl sulfides under mild conditions. The reactions showed high yields and broad substrate tolerance, with CuPT serving as the copper catalyst for CN coupling and as a catalyst and coupled partner for CS coupling.
