Bright, noniridescent structural coloration from clay mineral nanosheet suspensions

Paulo H. Michels-Brito et al.

Summary: By using suspended two-dimensional nanosheets of a clay mineral, researchers have achieved bright and non-iridescent structural colors. The brightness is improved by using double clay nanosheets, optimizing the clay refractive index that otherwise hampers structural coloration. The distance between layers and the structural colors can be controlled precisely and reproducibly by clay concentration and ionic strength, and obtaining non-iridescence is easily accomplished in this system.

Disorder-Order Transition-Improving the Moisture Sensitivity of Waterborne Nanocomposite Barriers

Maximilian Roehrl et al.

Summary: By fabricating crystalline and disordered nanocomposite structures at different drying temperatures, PVOH/Hec composite materials exhibit efficient barrier properties at high humidity levels. Oxygen permeability of the crystalline morphology is significantly lower than that of the disordered nanocomposite at elevated humidity.

Osmotic Delamination: A Forceless Alternative for the Production of Nanosheets Now in Highly Polar and Aprotic Solvents

Summary: The study successfully extended repulsive osmotic delamination to polar and aprotic organic solvents by exerting pressure through the formation of complexation. Complete delamination was achieved in water-free solvents through this process.
