Paraquat exposure over generation affects lifespan and reproduction through mitochondrial disruption in C. elegans

Snigdha Bora et al.

Summary: The study shows the effects of acute and chronic exposure to Paraquat on reproduction, longevity, gene expression, and mitochondrial physiology in C. elegans. Chronic exposure to Paraquat leads to a decline in fertility and a trade-off between reproduction and somatic maintenance. Mutations in CEP-1 and isp-1 influence the sensitivity and tolerance to chronic Paraquat exposure.

Azobenzene-based polycatenars: Investigation on photo switching properties and optical storage devices

Jyothi Mannekote Shivanna et al.

Summary: This study investigates the photo switching behavior of azobenzene-based rod-like polycatenar molecules with varying terminal chains, demonstrating fast trans-cis conversion upon light irradiation and slower cis-trans relaxation depending on the chain type. Regardless of the terminal chain, all molecules exhibit fast thermal back relaxation time, with a caterpillar model proposed to explain the observed phenomena. Additionally, the potential of one selected example in optical storage device is highlighted, showing the structure-property relationship in such molecules related to their photo switching properties.
