Exercise-Induced Browning of White Adipose Tissue and Improving Skeletal Muscle Insulin Sensitivity in Obese/Non-obese Growing Mice: Do Not Neglect Exosomal miR-27a

Dongxue Wang et al.

Summary: Exercise is seen as an effective method to prevent and treat childhood obesity, but the specific mechanisms and differences between obese and non-obese individuals are not well understood. This study aimed to investigate the causes behind exercise's impact on the browning of white adipose tissue (WAT) and the reversal of skeletal muscle insulin resistance in obese and non-obese bodies. The results showed that exercise can hinder the development of body fat in growing mice and that it modifies glucolipid metabolism parameters differently in obese and non-obese groups. Furthermore, the study suggests that exosomal miR-27a may play a crucial role in the process of exercise-induced browning of WAT and improvement of skeletal muscle insulin sensitivity.

MiR-690, an exosomal-derived miRNA from M2-polarized macrophages, improves insulin sensitivity in obese mice

Wei Ying et al.

Summary: Insulin resistance is a significant issue in type 2 diabetes and obesity, while anti-inflammatory M2-like macrophages play a role in maintaining metabolic balance. Research has shown that exosomes secreted by M2 polarized macrophages contain miRNAs that can improve glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in obese mice. MiR-690, found in abundance in these exosomes, acts as an insulin sensitizer both in vivo and in vitro, suggesting it could be a potential therapeutic agent for metabolic diseases.
