Summary: This study investigates the use of PEI solution-impregnated activated carbon as a potential adsorbent for the removal of toxic Cr(VI) from water. The experimental results show that high removal efficiency can be achieved at pH 3, a contact time of 120 minutes, and a dosage concentration of 1 g L-1. Kinetic and isotherm models were applied to analyze the data, and a maximum adsorption capacity of 114 mg g-1 was obtained.

Investigation of biochar from Cedrella fissilis applied to the adsorption of atrazine herbicide from an aqueous medium

Paola T. Hernandes et al.

Summary: Biochar produced from Cedrella fissilis sawdust was used as an adsorbent to remove atrazine herbicide from aqueous media. The results showed that biochar had high stability, an amorphous structure, and an irregular surface. The Langmuir model best described the experimental data, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 7.68 mg g(-1) at 328 K. The thermodynamic parameters indicated a spontaneous, endothermic adsorption process governed by physical interactions. Kinetic studies showed that equilibrium was reached within 180 min. The biochar can be reused up to three cycles and demonstrated good efficiency in removing atrazine from contaminated water samples.

Removal and Release of the 2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic Acid Herbicide from Wastewater by Layered Double Hydroxides

El Hassane Mourid et al.

Summary: Zn-2-Al layered double hydroxides (LDHs) show high efficiency in removing 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T) herbicide, with a removal rate of 96% and a capacity of 718 mg/g. The retention of 2,4,5-T is influenced by factors such as solution pH, LDH charge density, adsorbent/adsorbate ratio, and the nature of interlayer anion. The possibility of LDH recycling for further use in eliminating pollutants from water is suggested.
